Brooks solar is a 17 mw solar project located adjacent to the transcanada highway in brooks alberta.

Brought online in 2017 brooks solar is an innovative project with a long term corporate power purchase agreement. This project will include 50 000 solar panels that can power up to 3 000 homes and will be the first utility scale solar project in western canada. Brooks solar ii power plant brooks solar ii power plant the alberta utilities commission has approved an application for a 26 5 megawatt solar power plant in the brooks area. Borea was responsible for the full engineering procurement and construction scope.

This innovative project will demonstrate the advantages and performance of large scale solar power in alberta. Using over 48 000 high efficiency solar modules and nearly 3 000 tables of fixed racking system it is currently the largest utility scale solar plant in alberta. During a pre construction site visit elemental energy personnel noticed what appeared to be a hawk nest near the edge of their solar energy development property. In addition to reducing ghg emissions this project will bring direct benefits to the community as well.

The project will use jinkosolar high efficiency mono perc modules installed by borea construction. Elemental energy is constructing a 15 megawatt solar facility near brooks.
